LANGHORNE, PA - Pop Warner announced today it is opening its National Cheer & Dance Championships to allow for Tiny Mite cheer and dance teams (ages 5-7) to compete this December in Orlando. While Pop Warner Tiny Mite teams have been able to participate in exhibition performances at National Championships, this will be the first year that teams will have the opportunity to competitively perform and receive scores.  
 
The move to add a Tiny Mite competition to the championship slate comes as an effort to realize the division’s full potential and meet growing demands for competition at that level. The emphasis will continue to be on learning, teamwork and fun even with the addition of a Tiny Mite Championship. Teams attending Regional Championships with a desire to compete at nationals will be scored and given feedback by judges, but will not be ranked.   
 
“We’re very excited to be able to provide Tiny Mite cheer and dance teams the opportunity to compete at Championships. The focus will continue to be on learning the basics and creating a fun, inclusive environment for our young participants,” said Lisa Moroski, Pop Warner National Cheer & Dance Commissioner. “Our long-term goal has always been to add Tiny Mites to the National Cheer & Dance Championships, giving them their own days to compete and provide exposure to the next level. We’re excited to finally be able to do that starting this year.”
 
The following Tiny Mite divisions will compete at championships: Show Cheer 1 (S, M, L), Core Cheer 1, Sideline Performance Cheer 1 (S, M, L), Pom Performance, Theme Dance and Hip Hop.
