Avalon Pop Warner | Orlando Magic Dancer

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your background.

I was born in Madison, Wisconsin and moved to Orlando, Florida when I was really young. I attended Timber Creek High School and went on to Valencia College where I earned my Associates degree in Business Administration. Later, I transferred to the University of Central Florida where I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. I am currently working as a professional model with Wilhelmina Miami and also preparing to audition for my third season as an Orlando Magic Dancer!

Tell us about your time with Pop Warner growing up and how it prepared you for the world of professional cheer and dance.

I joined Pop Warner Avalon in 8th grade with some of my best friends who I am still close with today! I learned so much about teamwork, discipline, sharpness in my movements, stunting and tumbling. It prepared me to work harder, listen to my body when it’s telling me to rest, network and build relationships, and to always have a positive mindset. I still use the same skills I learned in Pop Warner practices in my current dance rehearsals and jobs. I have so many amazing memories of my Pop Warner days and will be forever grateful for the experiences, growth and lifelong friendships it gave me!

What do you like most about being a professional dancer for the Orlando Magic?

I have been a professional dancer with the Orlando Magic for two seasons. I really enjoy dancing next to such incredible talent, learning new dances from our amazing choreographer, dancing and cheering every home game from the sidelines, performing on the court, giving back to our community and participating in the Jr. Dance camps.

Any words of advice for current Pop Warner cheerleaders and dancers?

Three words I live by every single day: NEVER GIVE UP. If you want something bad enough, you will get there -- it might take a few tries, but you’ll never know unless you try! I tried out for the Orlando Magic dance team three times before I made it on my fourth try because I never gave up! Trust the process, stay humble and always be the most authentic and honest version of yourself!
