Pop Warner Leadership Charts Course for the Future

Following the excitement of championship week and gearing up for the new season, Pop Warner Little Scholars leaders from the national office and each region of the country gathered for their annual meeting in Philadelphia. This year, the gathering welcomed several new faces to the regional management team. With fresh perspectives joining the ranks, the meeting offered a valuable opportunity to solidify the foundation for Pop Warner's future.

  • One Team: To reinforce its position as the leading national governing body for youth football and cheer & dance, Pop Warner is fostering greater consistency across all regions by standardizing and streamlining processes and procedures. This includes adding Dennis Connors as Regional Operations Specialist to the national staff to work directly with the RMTs to identify best practices that can be deployed nationally.
  • Expanding Flag Football: While Pop Warner has offered flag football for some time, there's a renewed dedication to expanding its involvement in this area. Plans include a stand-alone model for flag football governance, as well as new event programs to enhance participation and engagement in flag football programs.
  • Simplifying the Experience: Pop Warner prioritizes making the experience as effortless as possible for its leagues, associations, and countless volunteers. This commitment is reflected in enhanced digital capabilities within the Sports Connect registration and roster platforms to minimize paperwork and volunteer hours and a more streamlined approach to background checks through Sterling Volunteers.
  • New Direction for PWA: Pop Warner now has a new manufacturing partner to drive enhanced resources and services on Pop Warner Authentic uniforms and apparel. Pop Warner Authentic is now supported by The Kanata Group, which offers an exciting new direction that has the resources to better understand and service our members. Riddell remains a partner on uniform sales and distribution.
  • Community Recognition Expands: Following a successful inaugural year spotlighting the exemplary work of the Winter Park Tigers, the Community Star Award returns in 2024. This year, the award will shift its focus to recognizing outstanding achievements at the association level. Nominations will open again in August.
"We had some extremely productive conversations that reflect Pop Warner's ongoing dedication to excellence, growth, and community engagement, setting a promising course for the future of youth football and cheer & dance,” said Tim Glase, Pop Warner’s Chief Operating Officer.
