Excitement Brewing Heading Into Season

As we kick off the 2025 season, I’m honored - and incredibly excited - to begin my first as President & CEO of Pop Warner. It’s a privilege to step into this role at such a pivotal moment for our organization, building on nearly a century of tradition while looking ahead to bold new opportunities for growth, inclusion, and impact.

This offseason has been a total whirlwind in the best way. I’ve hit the road, met with leagues and leaders across the country, and seen firsthand what makes this community so special. Everywhere I go, I’m reminded: Pop Warner isn’t just an organization, it's a movement powered by passionate, dedicated people who care deeply about kids, character, and community.

We’re growing, and not just in numbers. We’re expanding the ways young athletes can get involved, especially through the fast-rising world of flag football. It’s a powerful signal that the future of our game is bright, inclusive, and evolving. And this week we announced we’re taking it to the next level with an exciting new partnership with NFL FLAG.

For the first time, we’re bringing the National Championships to Charlotte, North Carolina – an incredible new home for an unforgettable week of football, cheer, dance, and celebration. We’re also thrilled to launch two exciting new events: the Crown Classic Flag Football Tournament in partnership with NFL FLAG, and the Queen City Crown Open cheer and dance competition. These additions are major milestones for our growing flag football community and a wonderful opportunity to gather, compete, and celebrate the next generation of athletes.

That’s not all. We're also focused on continuing to strengthen our community and traditions. We announced that we will be bringing back the All-American Scholars National Banquet, returning in 2026 to celebrate the best of Pop Warner with the energy and pageantry it deserves. And to keep our community connected throughout the year, we recently launched our “Extra Points” Podcast, hosted by our chief operating officer, Tim Glase. The show features stories, insights, and conversations with legends of the game – check out our first three episodes with Dick Vermeil, Anthony Munoz, and Brian Dawkins, available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and other major platforms.

This is a season full of promise, energy, and opportunity. I’m grateful to be on this journey with all of you. Good luck to our athletes – and thank you to the coaches, administrators, parents, and volunteers who make Pop Warner so special.

Best,

Steve Strawbridge
