The 49th edition of the annual Pop Warner Scholastic Banquet was held on Saturday, May 23 at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort...and was a huge success. Nearly 1,800 people attended this year’s banquet, which saw Pop Warner hand out $110,000 in scholarship money to 71 scholar-athletes on behalf of its partners and sponsors. Awards were also handed out to Earnest Graham, Bob Sanders (who was not in attendance due to a family emergency), Myles Brand, Summer Sanders, as well as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. 2009 Award Recipients Announced

On Saturday, May 23, Pop Warner will host its 49th Annual Scholastic Banquet at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in Lake Buena Vista, FL. More than 2,000 participants from around the country are expected to attend this year’s banquet and Pop Warner will award more than $105,000 in scholarships on behalf of its partners and sponsors. Pop Warner will also present awards to those that have had an impact on youth football and their communities and serve as positive role models for today’s scholar-athletes. 2009 Awardee Spotlight: Bob Sanders

Indianapolis’ star safety Bob Sanders is the epitome of accomplishing the impossible. The freshest contribution to the Colts defense comes in a package standing at 5’8’’ and weighing 206 lbs, symbolizing sound and fury while signifying explosive execution. Such talents cannot be measured in height or weight, and this 2007 NFL Defensive Player of the Year is evident in critical game moments and felt with every spine twisting collision. Congratulations to all of the 2008-2009 Pop Warner All-American Scholars! This year we are pleased to announce that record numbers of All-American Scholar applications were submitted to us, over 8,100 total! This year, several scholar-athletes have been selected as recipients of this prestigious award. As a result, they have been invited to attend the 49th Annual Pop Warner Scholastic Banquet which takes place on Friday, May 22 & Saturday, May 23, 2009 at the Coronado Springs Resort at DisneyWorld in Lake Buena Vista, Fl.
