About Natalie Coughlin (pronounced COG-lin):

Coughlin(Courtesy of USASwimming.com) Natalie is just the third American woman to win five Olympic medals at one meet, including two gold in the 100m backstroke and as a member of the world record-setting 4x200m freestyle relay. She is the first and only woman to swim the 100m back in less than one minute.

Coughlin was named 2002 USA Swimming Swimmer of the Year. She was also a three-time NCAA Swimmer of the Year, and three-time Sullivan Award finalist (nation's top amateur athlete). Natalie became the first person since Tracy Caulkins (1978) to win five U.S. National titles at one meet (August 2002). She currently owns 22 international medals (10 gold), five individual world records, 16 individual American records and 13 U.S. National titles
