PW Journeyman Honored

Pop Warner was very proud to recognize 42-year Pop Warner Volunteer and friend, Tony Rizzo, at the 2005 Pop Warner Scholar Banquet on Sat., May 28, 2005 in Anaheim, CA. Rizzo was a staple in the Mount Baldy Pop Warner League in southern California until he recently stepped down. He emboddies the true character and dedication that keeps our programs running!

Scholar Frequently Asked Questions

Pop Warner hosts the annual Scholar All-American Awards Program each year to celebrate the accomplishments of our gifted scholar-athletes. Going into our 45th year hosting this event, the event alternates annually between the Disneyland™ area (2005) and the DisneyWorld™ area (2006). This year's event is taking place on Friday, May 27 and Saturday, May 28, 2005 at the Hyatt Regency Resort in Orange County, CA.

All Scholastic All-Americans (1st Team, 2nd Team & Honorable Mention) are eligible to attend the PWLS National All-American Banquet. Two-day festivities include (2) Tributes to the Scholars and an evening Dinner Banquet. First Team All-Americans who attend the Dinner Banquet are given one complimentary ticket towards the dinner procession while 2nd Team All-Americans receive one ticket at the discounted rate of $35.00. Below is an outline of the activities of this year's program:

	Tribute to Scholars is now (2) seperate events:
	- Friday, May 27, 2005 (7:00 pm - 9:00 pm) Tribute for 5th and 6th Grade Scholars - Saturday, May 28, 2005 (10:00 am - 12:00 pm) Tribute for 7th and 8th+ Grade Scholars

	Tribute to Scholars format:
	- Tribute to Scholars events will now feature more speakers, raffle items and other fun events for the scholars.

	Pop Warner introduces "Honorable Mention" Scholar All-Americans
	- All Scholars who qualify for National recognition but do not make 1st or 2nd Team National will be honored for their achievements as "Honorable Mention" Scholar All-Americans.

	What about Disneyland?
	- Have no fear. No, we are not located on Disney property, but we are at the newly renovated Hyatt Regency Resort in Garden Grove, CA, which is located about 1 mile from Disneyland. Free shuttles to Disneyland are provided by the hotel.

	Who are the awardees and NFL players that will be at this year's event?
	- This might be our best year ever! Several high profile athletes and community figures are planning on attending this years event to be with you all. All Awardees will be featured in the Awardees Section of this site as they are confirmed.
