The Beeville Trojans participate with the High School in their Homecoming Parade. The Flour Bluff Hornets also participate in their town’s High School Homecoming parade. In fact, the Flour Bluff Hornet Cheer squads all march together as one and have won the best marching group award for the past three years. All the parents and participants really look forward to this event, for many of them they are marching along with their older sibling who attends High School and that makes them feel very important. Plus, who doesn’t like to march in a parade and know that all eyes are on them. This is one community event that I could not even begin to imagine without Pop Warner squads and football teams.

For the past several years, the Pomperaug Warrior Cheerleaders have served as ambassadors of the Community Run. Simply, the cheerleaders greeted the runners with cheers as they started the race and gave them encouragement as they approached the finish line. Additionally, the individual teams have taken collections for different causes. One team collected toiletry items for a women’s shelter. Another collected food for a family in need. On September 23rd the CMPWFL Team Cheer from Central MA Pop Warner located in Massachusetts participated in the 9th Annual Walk to Cure Cancer in Worcester. This is the second year that Team Cheer has taken it’s youth to this event to help support our local communities and the people that we know and love, as Cancer touches most everyone’s lives in one way or another.
2006 was the first year that our group CMPWFL Team Cheer participated with over 300 strong with our cheerleader’s ages 5-15, Coaches, Coordinators, Board of Directors, Parents, and Friends Of our Pop Warner League. The Worcester Vikings participated in 2005 in this event as a team and the feedback was so positive from the players and the Walk Committee I felt it would be a great adventure for CMPWFL to come together. This year we are so pleased to announce that we were over 700 Strong on Team Cheer! It was incredible the support from our players, and Coaches. Not only did we double our attendance we also met our and exceeded our fundraising goal.
The idea behind this event was not so much to raise money for the Walk but to go and support those that walked, and let me tell you they did. We were pleased to have raised as much money as we did with help from Waste Management in W. Boylston in the amount of $500.00. Members of our associations held penny drives, bake sales and personal sponsorships. It is amazing what a group of kids can do when given a task along with the support of there coaches – our Leominster pee wee girls did just that, raising over $800.00. What an incredible job, but again just as incredible is
The Team that walked in name of there coach who is now undergoing Chemo, as we prepared for the walk this year, We came to realize how close to home cancer really is, and that made it even more personally for many Cheerleaders that attended, still and most important was giving back to the community.
Our Team lined both sides of the starting line, and continuously cheered as all 10,000 plus walkers went through, as the last walker went through Team Cheer caring there banner took up the end of the line and completed the what was suppose to be a 1 mile walk that turned into 2 miles, but that is ok. We were lucky enough this year to have our President and Vice President from W. Boylston attend the walk with us and as you will see a short story from the V.P of W. Boylston/ Coach/Parent of a Football player and Cheerleader that there is hope that we are making a difference with our youth programs here in Central MA.
