I am excited to announce the 2005 Global Youth Jamboree which will be played in the tropical paradise of Cancun, Mexico July 10-17, 2005. It also gives me pleasure to invite you to bring a team to participate in this international event, joining the other 15 Midget Division teams that will come from various parts of the USA and the world to compete.
We first held the Jamboree this past August, and found that this event truly brings together some of the best kids, coaches and families in the spirit of competition and camaraderie. Plus, what better place could there be to gather and enjoy each other's company, and some great football, than in Cancun!
After an exhaustive search of other Latin America countries we have discovered that Cancun is simply the best, and for many reasons. First, it is a destination resort that the whole world wants to visit, it is easy to access by plane from virtually anywhere, and the region holds a rich cultural tradition blended with a first-class resort ambiance.
Second, we have met a great football man there, Pepe Romero , a member of both the Mexican American Football Hall of Fame and the NFL Hall of Fame. Pepe has coached football for 35 years, and is the head coach at the private LaSalle University in Cancun . He has dedicated his life to the sport he loves and to those youngsters who play it, and will open up his fine facilities for all our teams to play on and enjoy. Third, as site of the NCAA Division III vs Mexico Aztec Bowl the past two years, Cancun has become a hotbed of what is known to the world as “American Football”.
We are proud to have the support of the world's largest youth football organization, Pop Warner Little Scholars, and are happy that they are making special allowance for participating teams to practice and prepare for this event outside of the traditional season.
Since you have now been invited, I would encourage you to move quickly to reserve a spot for your team. With only 15 spots available (one is reserved for host Cancun ), these are sure to be filled soon. All the details of the event, and how to register your team, are in the attached document. Please read this carefully and contact me with any questions, or to let me know you are coming! A key item to note is that you may bring an existing team, put together players from your conference to form a team, or even build a team among conferences. All we ask is that you bring a minimum of 32 players, cheerleaders, and siblings who will be housed in quad rooms, along with quality coaches. We also encourage as many parents, families and friends as possible to come join in the fun!
