Tustin Pop Warner to Participate in Disneyland Parade for Winning Super Bowl XLII Team
(January 24, 2008) – It has been an exciting past few months for the Tustin Cobras program of the Orange Empire Conference in California. Last November they qualified three different football teams (Gold Cobras-Jr. Pee Wee, Black Cobras-PeeWee, Black Cobras-Jr. Midget) to go to the 51st Pop Warner Super Bowl in Orlando, FL.
These three teams, along with two Tustin cheerleading teams that qualified, made the cross country trip to Disney World and played a week of hard-fought football. In the end, they came back to California with two consolation trophies (Pee Wee & Jr. Midget) and a national runner-up trophy as the PeeWee team lost to Maryland's Beacon House Falcons in the championship game.
After a great showing at Walt DisneyWorld, the Disney theme park, Disneyland will be honoring these three teams along with the winners of Super Bowl XLII which features the New England Patriots taking on the New York Giants. Pre-selected Tustin players will join members of the winning team in a parade throughout the park as part of Disney's "What's Next" campaign.
The "What's Next" campaign stems from the famous line "I'm going to DisneyWorld," which is uttered each year by the winning team following the Super Bowl. Coincidentally enough, the Giants can take credit for starting this yearly trend when Super Bowl XXI MVP Phil Simms was the first player to announce he was "going to Disney World."
