One of the most unique and exciting stories from the nearly 80-year history of Pop Warner Little Scholars, Inc. is now being told on the Big Screen.

The story is that of Jasmine Plummer, the first ever female quarterback to lead her team to the Pop Warner Super Bowl. Plummer, from the the small city of Minden, Illinois, heroically led the Harvey Colts Jr. Pee Wee team all the way to the biggest stage in Pop Warner football.

Starring Ice Cube (Are We There Yet?; Are We Done Yet?; First Sunday) and directed by Fred Durst, THE LONGSHOTS is a feel-good family comedy, and a heartwarming story of Plummer's life. Well-renounded actress KeKe Palmer (Akeelah & The Bee; Wool Cap) nails the role of Plummer, while Cube portrays Curtis Plummer, the uncle of Plummer and a former high school football star

With Curtis as their new leader and their pigtail-wearing star player, this team of misfits wins its way to the the Pop Warner Super Bowl and the small city of Minden, Illinois, is ignited with team spirit, town pride and the glory it once knew. 

Director Durst had an immediate attraction to the film, and talks about it in a recent interview with PR.com.

"I loved the script because it had a lot of heart," said Durst. "I have an understanding of what it’s like to not have certain role models in life, where that void can be there and you’re just getting by. Then to have something come along that’s your salvation, or that becomes your salvation, like football was for Jasmine Plummer. And, how along with it came something to fill that void of hers. I just thought it had a lot of heart and I really respond to stories with a lot of heart...I wanted to make a film that not only younger people could enjoy, but also one that adults could enjoy themselves."
