Moore is Definitely Better
Pop Warner selects Mandy Moore as the February 2004 Pop Warner Alumni of the Month

February 3, 2004

She has been performing since the age of six, has four best selling albums, roles in over ten movies, and is now writing her own songs. There isn't much she can't do, and in just a few years, Many Moore has transformed from a young blonde pop star to a sophisticated brunette and one of the most successful performers of this generation. Oh yeah, we also know she can cheer pretty well too!

The nineteen-year-old Moore was born on April 10, 1984 in Nashua, NH, but soon after relocated to Longwood, FL when she was just two months old. As Mandy was growing up, she decided to participate in the local Pop Warner cheerleading program, and quickly began to show her talent. “She was always one of the loudest cheerleaders,” said Stacey Moore, Mandy's mother. “She was very energetic and always had a smile on here face.”

Mandy first found music at summer musical camp when she was 9 years old. She quickly became known as the “National Anthem Girl” because she performed many renditions of the Star Spangled Banner at football games and several other sporting events, including Chris Evert's Pro-Celebrity Tennis Tournament. Coupled with the 5 years she spent dancing and cheerleading for Pop Warner (5 cheering for Pop Warner), Mandy had a very busy childhood. As a member of the Lake Brantley Patriots (FL) Pop Warner cheer squad, Mandy felt it was her job to convince the crowd to listen to her. She did this through energy and a big smile on her face. This enthusiasm has apparently carried over into her music career.

Mandy has dedicated her career to both singing and acting, but she became who she is today through her music. Her first album, “So Real” was released is 1999 and took only 3 short months to go platinum. Her second album, “I Wanna be With You” debuted in 2000 and also reached platinum status. The soundtrack to her hit movie “A Walk to Remember” was also quite successful. She has recently released her third album which is self-titled and is working on her next one which will be called “Coverage.”

Many Moore is not a name recognized only in the music industry. She has also starred in many feature films. Mandy made her debut in such films as Magic Al and the Mind Factory (2000), The Princess Diaries (2001), and Dr. Doolittle 2 (2001). It was her next film that we really had a chance to see the amazing acting skills of Mandy Moore. The 2002 hit film A Walk to Remember (2002), was her first lead roll, and also her most successful and popular movie to date. She has also currently starred in How to Deal (2003), Chasing Liberty (2004), and the independent film Saved (2004) , which will be released later this year.

Mandy is also the national spokeswoman for Neutrogena products and has partnered with Wet Seal – Contempo to promote its Blue Asphalt product catalog. She has been able to accomplish all of these incredible achievements before the age of 20. She currently lives in Los Angles, California to further both her music and acting career.

Pop Warner is proud to feature former Lake Brantley Patriots cheerleader Mandy Moore as the Alumni of the Month for February 2004. Mandy continues to thrive as a talented musician, actress and spokeswoman, and does so with respect, maturity and a great sense of class. At only 19 years old, we have just seen the beginning of Mandy Moore.

“I don't feel I've missed out on anything about growing up, because I feel so fortunate," says Mandy . "There are so many kids that would love to be doing what I'm doing!"
