Pop Warner at DSM Youth Sports Nutrition & Safety Panel

McCourty_dsmJon Butler joined NFL players Jason & Devin McCourty, Sarah Hasselbeck (mom and NFL wife), Katherine Brooking (nutritionist) and Dr. Majid Fotuhi (neurologist) for the DSM Bright Science Brighter Living's Youth Sports Nutrition & Safety Panel in New York City today.

The panel is part of the #EatSmartPlaySafe program developed by DSM and Pop Warner to educate members about proper nutrition and to provide info. & tips on overall wellness & healthy eating.

At the event, Pop Warner & DSM shared the findings of a recent survey to uncover current trends in youth sports to better inform parents and coaches. Check Out the Survey Results+

The national survey results of more than 3,600 parents and coaches involved in Pop Warner youth sports reveal head injury prevention and the lack of balanced nutrition for youth athletes are among top concerns.

The survey is part of the Eat Smart, Play Safe program developed by Pop Warner Little Scholars and DSM Nutritional Products and explores the four dimensions of youth sports: nutrition; physical fitness and injury prevention; social well-being and sportsmanship and cognitive development.

The Eat Smart, Play Safe program is an educational campaign focused on promoting healthy nutrition and sports safety for active kids, on and off the field. DSM Nutritional Products and Pop Warner have partnered to bring valuable nutrition and safety information to young athletes, parents and coaches. This program targets building awareness for families about the important nutrients children should have in their everyday diets, for example, the omega-3 fatty acids DHA and EPA, vitamins D and E, calcium and iron.
