ORLANDO, FL. – The most entertaining people involved in football are usually wearing funny costumes, otherwise known as the mascots.

Six mascots from the National Football League entertained an array of fans throughout today’s events at the Pop Warner Super Bowl.  The featured mascots represented teams from the southeastern part of the country; Miami Dolphins, Jacksonville Jaguars, Baltimore Ravens, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Philadelphia Eagles and Carolina Panthers.

The first task of the day for the mascots was the annual mascot vs. player game.  Six players from the Canyon Hills Cowboys, LA of the Division I Pee Wee League squared off with the mascots in a 10 minute exhibition game.

The Cowboys won the game 12-9 with a last minute touchdown.

The last chance for the mascots was denied when “Swoop” of the Philadelphia Eagles, was intercepted by Canyon Hills’ #60, Edward Faatoalia.  Faatoalia caused problems for the mascots on either side of the ball as he had numerous carries and two touchdowns for the Cowboys.

“It wouldn’t be an annual mascot game if the mascots would have won,” said Josh Pruce, Pop Warner’s National Director of Media Relations.

Following the football game Pruce escorted the mascots into the cheer competition where they entertained the cheerleader’s and their fans.  The mascots also assisted in awarding the national champions their trophies.

Rewarding the mascots for their enthusiasm was Bob Fields.  Fields has gone above and beyond to get the fans involved in the week-long competition and selected all six mascots as the “Fields Fan of the Day,” Tuesday.

“They were just all so crazy, it was impossible to choose just one,” said Field, Pop Warner’s creative analyst.

After a long day at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex the mascots reluctantly returned to their respective homes.

It was a general consensus that the mascots were a hit.  They were entertaining to say the least.
