WHITE OAK WARRIORS WIN POP WARNER’S DIVISION I JUNIOR PEE WEE SUPER BOWL

ORLANDO, FL (December 8, 2007) – The White Oak Warriors of Silver Springs, MD defeated the Union Rd. Jaguars of Gastonia, NC today 14-0 in the 2007 Pop Warner Division I Junior Pee Wee Super Bowl at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex.

The Pop Warner Super Bowl began with 64 football teams representing more than 8 Pop Warner regions including teams from both Alaska and Hawaii.

The White Oak Warriors victory began with their 19-0 defeat against the Tustin Gold Cobras (CA) during the quarter-final game on Sunday. They moved to the semi-final championship game, played on Wednesday, December 5, where they defeated the Columbus Cougars (OH) 28-0 advancing them to the Pop Warner Super Bowl Championship.

The Warriors defense had shut-out opposing offenses in the first two games earlier this week and continued its success in the Championship Game by not allowing the Union Rd. Jaguars explosive offense into the end zone.  On the offensive side, quarterback Gaston Cooper set up the scoring drive with a 26 yard pass to wide receiver Myles Robinson before running back Clarence Allen plunged in with a 1-yard touchdown.  Allen ran in the extra point making the score 7-0. In the second quarter, Dion Etheridge scored White Oak’s final touchdown and Kevin Joppy, ran in the extra point to put White Oak ahead 14-0.

This is the Warriors first Pop Super Bowl Championship at the Jr. Pee-Wee level. The White Oak Warriors have now won Pop Warner Super Bowl Championships at the Jr. Pee Wee, Pee Wee, Jr. Midget and Midget levels.
