The Cheer & Dance Championships consist of approximately 300+ squads competing this year at the Milk House in 4 age classifications to be crowned National Champion. This year's Cheer & Dance Championships will be the 8th year that SMALL and LARGE squads will compete in 4 age classifications. Small squads consist of 19 cheerleaders and less while large squads can have up to 35 cheerleaders competing together. Also, for the second straight year, squads are competing in 3 different categories of competition; Novice, Intermediate and Advanced. These new categories are based on success from the previous year.

For a cheerleading or dance squad, the difficult road to the national championship is quite similar to that of the football teams'. A spirit squad will showcase their best 2:30 routine complete with music and cheering at a league championship level. The top 2 squads advance to regional competition if more than five squads compete in a single division. At regional competition, a spirit squad will again perform their top 2:30 routine in hopes of winning. The first and second place squads in the region are invited to perform at Disney's Wide World of Sports™.

The 2006 Cheer & Dance Championships will take place from Tuesday, December 5 through Friday, December 8 inside the Milk House at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex (Map of Complex). Each day will start at 8:00 a.m. sharp!
