2005 Pop Warner Pee Wee National Cheer Championships

Spirit and Smiles Abound at the Pop Warner Pee Wee Cheerleading National Championships

Another year of high-energy competition in the Pop Warner Cheerleading National Championship wrapped up today in the Pee Wee cheerleading division, as teams from around the country cheered, stunted, and tumbled their way to victory. This year, some familiar faces as well as first year participants took home National Championship titles.

In their first appearance at the National Championships, the Freehold Giants took home the Pee Wee Small Novice title. Rounding out the top five were the Mandarin Panthers, New Egypt Warriors, Wilders Grove Wolfpack, and the Dracut Middies Blue. The Carteret Sportsmen took home first place in Pee Wee Large Novice. The Sportsmen, who have cheered together for the past four years, are the first team from Carteret to ever advance to the National Championships. Runners up in the Pee Wee Large Novice division were the Manchester Hawks, Warren-Swansea Redskins, Volusia Panthers, and the Wake Forest Titans.

The Dracut Middies White, whose sister team placed 5 th in the Small Novice division, won the Small Intermediate division. After missing last year's competition, the Toms River Little Indians made a strong comeback, placing 2 nd , with the Everett Huskies, Mountain View Marauders, and Jackson Jaguars following closely behind. The winners in this year's Large Intermediate division are no strangers to the National Championships, with each team participating in 2004's competition. The St. Bart's Buffalos, Eastern Region's 2004 Champion, spirited to a first place finish in the Large Intermediate division. Joining the Buffalos in the winner's circle this year were the Monroe Wolverines, Malden Cyclones, Avalon Wolves, and the New Fairfield Falcons.

For the third year in a row, the Burlington Patriots clinched this year's Pee Wee Small Advanced title. The Northeast Vikings repeated in 2 nd place this year, followed by newcomers the Monroe Panthers, Holy Family Eagles, and Dr. Phillips Panthers.

Launching from their 4 th place finish at the National Championships in 2004, the Wall Knights brought home the gold in the Pee Wee Large Advanced division. The Farmingdale-Howell Lions and Wilmington Wildcats took home second and third place, with the Lake Brantley Patriots and Sarasota Sundevils rounding out the top five.

In addition to crowning National Champions, Pop Warner also awarded the Spirit of Sport Award to the West Side Eagles of the Big Island Pop Warner League. The Spirit of Sport Award recognizes the team that best exemplifies spirit, sportsmanship, character, and overall goodwill throughout the competition. Other nominees included the Sarasota Sundevils, Wall Knights, Holy Family Eagles, Lake Powell Silver Hawks, Venice Vikings, Lake Shore Renegades, Leander/Cedar Park Lions, and the Kernersville Raiders.

Pop Warner would like to congratulate all of our Pee Wee Cheerleading teams on their outstanding performances throughout the season, and thank the fans and parents for their unwavering support.
