Stanley (NC) vs. S.E. Dallas (TX)

In the first round of the DII Pee Wee National Championship the Stanley Blue Devils of North Carolina played the SE Dallas Wolverines of Texas. The Blue Devils jumped out to a quick 14 point lead in this high scoring game with both sides having a dominating running game that the other side could not stop. But it was the Wolverines turnovers that resulted in the Blue Devils winning 53-27.

The Wolverines never gave up and had some very bright moments lead with a 50-yard run by their strong running back as well as a great kickoff return touchdown that took two reverses before getting to the end zone. But it was the Blue Devils run that the Wolverines could not get a hold of. Coach Lucky of the Wolverines said “the team was getting confused with all of the Blue Devils crosses on the run.”

Coach Humphries of the Blue Devils gives the credit of his teams strong run attack to the Stanley Pop Warner system which instills a strong running game into all its teams. His team also got a few kickoff recoveries but as he will tell you the goal is not to get a recovery but to prevent the other teams big stars from getting their hands on the ball and making a big play.
