“ WINSTON-SALEM HOLDS ON FOR WIN”
In the Peewee first round the Winston-Salem Indians of North Carolina scored early with a touchdown in the first half. The Indians were unable to convert the two-point conversion.
Going into the second half the Indians were up 6-0 over the Arlington Thunders of Texas. The second half started with Arlington pulling of an onside kick recovered by # 31 to start the half. Arlington was able to get into the red zone only once though and was held by the Indians to no points. The Indians sealed the game with two minutes left with a fumble recovery run back for the touchdown; however, the two-point conversion was unsuccessful.
Wayne Rousseao, the Indians head coach, said the one thing they need to work on was coaching which may be best seen with five penalties in a row. Ted Ehrhardt, the Thunders' coach, said “We just could not get a big play.” This was the result of the Indians dominating the line.
