FINAL: Arlington Thunder (TX) 15, Tri-Town Raiders (IN) 14
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Thunder Rolls to the Title!
Get out in front, then hold the lead...this was the strategy today for the Arlington Thunder Jr. Pee Wee team today in their National Championship game against the Tri-town Raiders from Indiana. The Thunder jumped out early, then head on for dear life as they defeated the Raiders by the score of 15-14. This win claims the 2004 Pop Warner National Championship in the Jr. Pee Wee Tomlin Division.
"I am estacic, proud, our kids never put their heads down," said Arlington Thunder head coach David Wilson. "Our kids found the will and the heart to come together and win this one for us."
Both teams stuck with smash-mouth, power football throughout the game, and both teams played their game. Also, both teams displayed phenominal special teams play, converting on two extra point kicks, one that ultimately clinched the win for the Thunder.
With the team celebrating, and dunking their coaches with water, coach Wilson had a final thought to make on the impact this performance will have on the Arlington Pop Warner program in North Texas.
"We hope to see our league grow, and all of Pop Warner to grow. Its a great organization, not just with football but with the cheerleaders, dancers and scholars as well. There's not too many national organizations that you offer you this kind of opportunity!"
Congratulations to both teams on phenominal seasons, and for displaying great sportsmanship before, during and after today's game!
