The Southside Cowboys from Houston rode into Disney Wide World of Sports and scored a 32-6 triumph over the Vista Vipers from Palomar, CA in a spirited Division II Jr. Midget game today at Disney Wide World of Sports.

"We were lucky today," said Cowboys Head Coach Glenn Walker. "The Vipers are s tough team . They throw a lot of wrinkles at you. I told their coach that the score doesn't reflect how this game went or how his team played. We faced a real challenge today. " But then, Coach Walker's charges are no strangers to challenge. "Every game's a challenge for us. It's been that way all season. Coming out of Texas, a football crazy state, you face a new challenge every weekend. That's what got us ready for Nationals."

The Cowboys used a tough ground game to maintain good ball control through most of the game. After jumping out to a 19-6 lead in he first half, the Cowboys punched in their fourth touchdown from the Vipers red zone to extend their lead to 25-6 with 9:43 left to play. Late in the game, the Cowboys scored a fifth touchdown to up the score to 32-6. Despite some slick pitch and pass plays by the Vipers, the Cowboys defense held off the gritty Vista team and secured their victory with a final of 32-6.

"Our success today, and all season, has been based on 'discipline'," said Coach Walker. "We've been able to stop high scoring opponents when we're on defense because our kids know how to play position football and they stick to our game plan."

The Cowboys now go on to play for the Warner bracket National Championship of Jr. Midget Division II on Friday against the Freedom Drive Broncos of North Carolina, winners over a tough North Rockland (NY) Raiders team. The Vista Vipers will also play Friday afternoon in a consolation game against North Rockland. There'll be plenty of Pop Warner thrills all week. So, come on out for the action at Disney Wide World of Sports.
